About Field & Farm Calc

Field & Farm Calc exists because the practical math of rural life — how much hay gets the herd to spring, how much seed a half-acre plot really takes, how many cords the stove will burn — is scattered across extension PDFs, old forums, and word of mouth. We collect the published formulas from university extension services and state agencies and turn them into fast, free calculators that work on a phone in a field.

Every calculator explains its method and cites its sources. The numbers are planning estimates: animals, soils, weather, and firewood all vary, so use the results as a starting point and lean on your local extension office, veterinarian, or fisheries biologist for site-specific advice.
